Making music is is the opportunity to be a part of something organic, a communal thing that is so different from writing on your own. It directly connects you to everyone in earshot. My old mates, the Magnetic Dog Boys, were once described as a garage band mash of Pearl Jam and Black Sabbath (in style, not quality, obviously). Sadly, our best stuff was never recorded.
